Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has caused a stir in Abuja by disrupting an event and accusing the organizer of impersonation.

The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) shared a video on X showing the minister in a heated explanation, asserting that the organizer had been instructed to pause the event.

The event, organized by Mela-Chiyoma PAT Limited, was supposed to focus on women and food security.

Addressing attendees and journalists invited by the organizers, the minister stated: “I am here to clarify this matter to everyone. The organizer has been arrested.

“She should have reorganized herself, used her own name for the invitations, and conducted this event under her own name, not under the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

“I cannot allow this event to proceed because this is clear impersonation, and the President is not pleased about it.

“I am making this statement publicly, let the media cover it. I don’t care. This is unacceptable. You don’t take the ministry for granted. For what?” she questioned.

The event, whose details were not fully disclosed, was intended to address issues related to women and food security.
