The peace agreement with the bandits has stirred controversy, with some individuals claiming that the meeting was held between the local community and the bandits to negotiate peace. Others argue that the military personnel seen with the bandits came from Abuja without the locals’ knowledge.

Additionally, some factions accuse the state governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, of initiating the peace talks, despite his previous statements that his administration would not negotiate with bandits. Conversely, there are those who distance him from the arrangement.

However, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), through its director of information, Tukur Gusau, has verified the video’s authenticity and confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway.

Gusau mentioned that the military’s high command was aware of certain bandits’ intentions to surrender their weapons to the authorities and assured Nigerians that the military would utilize all legal means to restore peace nationwide.

Furthermore, the federal government has denied any plans to negotiate with criminals. The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, addressed this issue while responding to allegations of negotiating with bandits for the release of abducted female students from Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.
