WAEC Finally Releases 2026 WASSCE Results – Full Guide To Checking Your Result

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, with candidates advised to generate their result-checking PINs on the council’s official website before accessing their results online.

Announcing the release on Wednesday, the Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, disclosed that the results of 167,486 candidates, representing 8.59 per cent of those who sat the computer-based examination, have been withheld over alleged examination malpractice.

According to WAEC, 1,959,668 candidates from 24,207 schools across Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea registered for the examination, while 1,950,726 eventually took the test.

The examination body said 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Meanwhile, 1,687,378 candidates, or 86.50 per cent, earned five credits or more regardless of whether English and Mathematics were included.

WAEC noted that the pass rate for candidates who secured five credits, including English and Mathematics, declined by 1.42 percentage points compared to the 2025 examination.

Of the successful candidates who met the benchmark, 641,631 were female, while 558,883 were male. Overall, female candidates accounted for 51.12 per cent of the total entries, with males making up the remaining 48.88 per cent.

The council also announced that 1,834,695 candidates, representing 94.05 per cent of those who sat the examination, have had their results fully processed and released, while the results of 116,031 candidates (5.95 per cent) are still being processed.

How to Check Your 2026 WAEC Result

Candidates can check their results by first generating a Serial Number and PIN through the official WAEC portal.

To do this:

• Visit the WAEC website and select the “Serial Number and PIN” option.
• Choose the appropriate examination year and examination type.
• Enter your examination number and the same National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration.
• Provide your email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP).
• Enter the OTP to generate your Serial Number and PIN.
• Once generated, visit the WAEC result-checking portal to access your result.

Candidates can also download their WAEC ID card to their mobile devices through the council’s platform.
