War On Waste: Lagos Govt Raids Supermarkets, Seizes Single-Use Plastics In Sh*cking Crackdown [VIDEO]

The Lagos State Government has begun enforcing its ban on single-use plastics, seizing prohibited items from several supermarkets across the state.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared a video on his X handle today, September 3, showing enforcement officers confiscating cups, straws, and other products made with single-use plastics.

In his post, Wahab wrote:

“Our Enforcement Team today visited Blenco Supermarket in Lekki to enforce the ban on Single Use Plastics (SUP). This action is part of our broader efforts to ensure compliance with the State’s directive on phasing out SUP, which poses serious environmental threats and worsens flooding across Lagos.”

The enforcement team also carried out operations at Blend and Temple Hill Supermarkets in Ire-Akari, Jendol Supermarket in Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, as well as Lastprize and Reno Supermarkets on Liasu Road in Idimu.

Wahab emphasized that the government will continue to monitor and enforce compliance while working with businesses to adopt sustainable alternatives that protect the environment.
