We’ll Rape And Kill You’ – Lawyer Reveals Sh*cking Threats Against Female Corps Member In Anambra

A lawyer representing a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elobor, has alleged that vigilante operatives in Anambra State threatened to rape and kill her during a brutal encounter in Oba community.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, Elobor’s counsel, Cyrus Onu, recounted how operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi (popularly known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group) stormed the corps members’ residence without identifying themselves.

According to him, the operatives branded the corps members as internet fraudsters (“Yahoo boys”) before attempting to drag them out.

“They were banging the door. Jennifer tried to open it, and they kicked it down. Many were masked, in plain clothes, and armed, leaving the corps members terrified. When Jennifer asked to contact her Local Government Inspector before following them, they pounced on her. They made degrading remarks, saying a woman had no right to challenge them,” Onu said.

Threat of Rape and Death

Onu alleged the operatives not only assaulted Elobor but also issued chilling threats.

“When she asked to change into something appropriate, they told her, ‘That thing you’re trying to cover, we’ll see it today. We’ll beat you, rape you, kill you, and dump you, and no one will say anything.’”

He further claimed that Elobor’s colleagues who tried to intervene were also threatened with death. A viral video of the incident showed gun-wielding vigilantes tearing Elobor’s clothes while assaulting her, sparking nationwide outrage.

Government Response

The Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, confirmed on Tuesday that the operatives involved had been arrested and suspended.

“They are suspended because once a case has been established, the person is arrested and handed over to the police. They are now undergoing disciplinary measures, pending full evaluation,” Emeakayi explained.

However, Onu dismissed the state government’s response as inadequate, accusing officials of making excuses instead of pursuing justice.

“Ken claimed Jennifer was not forthcoming, which is false. At the secretariat, those same operatives were firing shots in the air to intimidate her. If not for the public outcry, the case would have been buried,” he said.

Demand for Justice

The lawyer vowed to pursue justice, insisting both prosecution and compensation must follow.

“There must be consequences for bad behaviour. My clients are seeking compensatory damages, and the perpetrators must face criminal charges. A petition has already been submitted to the state government demanding prosecution,” Onu affirmed.
