The Aba Ngwa Indigenous Movement had issued a warning, demanding that Ikwechegh urgently convene a town hall meeting to explain why he joined the Old Bende People in endorsing Otti. The group, represented by Rowland Ajuzieogu, Adimchinobi Nwaigwe, Jamike Ikonne, and others, argued that his position does not reflect the will or mandate of his constituents.
Responding through his Senior Media Director, George Ezeikpe, Ikwechegh insisted he had done no wrong by speaking the truth about the developmental and economic progress recorded in Aba and other parts of Abia State under Governor Otti.
Elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the lawmaker maintained that he still enjoys overwhelming support from the people of Aba and will not be swayed by threats of a recall.
“What sin has Honourable Ikwechegh committed for stating the truth about what the Governor has achieved?” the statement queried.
