In an interview with PUNCH, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin verified the development, adding“Autopsy has been concluded. It confirms the boy (Ifeanyi) drowned.”
According to reports, the police may conduct an autopsy to ascertain whether Ifeanyi died as a result of drowning in a swimming pool at his father’s home in Lagos State’s Banana Island neighborhood.
A source who confirmed the development said it was typical procedure for the police to do an autopsy in such a scenario, but that the police would back down if the departed family members objected.

“Though the family members are not saying anything yet because they are still in shock but until anybody says stop, the standard procedure is to conduct an autopsy and we are going to follow that procedure just like in any case of death,” the source said.
The source went on to say that of the eight domestic employees investigated by police in connection with Ifeanyi’s death, the chef and nanny, whose job it was to look after the three-year-old boy, had been detained for reasons including failing to uphold the duty of care of the minor.
The nanny and cook were claimed to be still in detention at the time of reporting this report.
