Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu and other top military commanders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, General Musa disclosed that the President had approved the procurement of new air assets to intensify the battle against insurgents.

He confirmed that fresh military equipment had already been acquired to enhance operations, particularly in the northern region, where terrorist activity has recently intensified.

“President Tinubu has issued clear directives to escalate all security efforts, and we’re working closely with neighbouring countries. One of our greatest challenges remains the porous borders,” General Musa noted.

The CDS added that military operations are being strengthened nationwide, with a strong emphasis on deploying advanced air and security assets. In addition to combat measures, the government is adopting non-military strategies, such as promoting grassroots development, to help reduce security threats.

“The President is engaging with state governors to ensure that democracy’s benefits reach the people, which will in turn help to stem insecurity,” he added.

General Musa also attributed the growing security concerns to transnational jihadist and terrorist movements operating across the Sahel, highlighting Nigeria’s vulnerable borders as a contributing factor.

He stressed that President Tinubu is fully engaged in efforts to review and revamp Nigeria’s security strategy.

“The President is genuinely worried about the security situation and is committed to finding lasting solutions. We, as service chiefs, have pledged our total dedication to restoring peace and stability,” Musa said.

He further urged Nigerians to actively support security personnel and report suspicious activities, cautioning against the spread of misinformation through deceptive social media content.

“It’s essential that citizens work hand-in-hand with our security agencies. If you notice something wrong—whether from civilians or our own personnel—report it. Appropriate action will be taken,” he concluded.
