Wike made the appeal on Thursday during the official launch of the Integrated (Hybrid) Solar Lighting project across Abuja city districts and expressways, under the “Light Up Abuja” initiative, Lots I and II.
Acknowledging Ndume’s presence at the event, the minister emphasized the need for lawmakers to prioritize FCT funding requests.
He said: “Senator Ndume, I know the area where you live has no street lights. Go home tonight and see it yourself. That is why whenever you are in the Senate, ensure that when we request ₦1, you increase it to ₦5, knowing that the money will be properly utilized. That is what truly matters.”
Wike further commended both chambers of the National Assembly for their continued support, assuring them that the FCT administration would always justify every allocation released.
The “Light Up Abuja” project is one of Wike’s flagship infrastructure programmes aimed at improving street lighting and enhancing security across the capital city and major highways.
