Why Do You Keep Jumping Parties?” – Wike Blasts Atiku, Says Even His Son Should Question Him

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over what he termed a pattern of “political nomadism” fueled by an insatiable quest for Nigeria’s presidency.

During a media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike pointed to Atiku’s history of switching parties since 1999, saying his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came as no surprise.

Wike stated, “Atiku started in PDP in 1999, then defected to Action Congress (AC), returned to PDP, moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and came back to PDP — all just to pursue his presidential ambition.

“If I were his son, I’d ask him, ‘Dad, at nearly 80, why are you still jumping from one party to another?’”

Wike also dismissed the ongoing talks of an opposition alliance seeking to oust President Bola Tinubu and the APC in 2027. According to him, Atiku’s move was driven by personal frustration over his diminishing chances within the PDP.

“The PDP, as it stands today, offers no clear path for Atiku to clinch the presidential ticket, and that’s the real reason for this so-called coalition. It’s simply an escape route,” Wike concluded.
