The match began with an early setback as Al Masry took the lead in the 8th minute through a well-placed shot by Mohamed Hashem. The goal came from a quickly taken corner, leaving Hashem unmarked in the area.
Despite the early goal, Stanley Eguma’s team displayed resilience and intensified their efforts in search of an equalizer. Their persistence paid off just two minutes into the second half when Ifeanyi Ihemekwele scored his second consecutive goal in the competition.
In an attempt to secure the win, Eguma introduced experienced forward Brown Ideye in the 58th minute. Although his entry brought momentum, the team couldn’t find the decisive goal.
Al Masry had a chance to regain the lead in the 68th minute, but Enyimba’s Super Eagles B goalkeeper, Ani Ozoemena, made a crucial penalty save, demonstrating the team’s determination.
As a result of the draw, Enyimba remains in third place in CAF Confederation Group D with five points. To stay in contention, they must secure a victory against group leader Zamalek in their final match in Egypt next Sunday. Additionally, the Black Bulls must beat Al Masry at home to advance.
