In response to criticisms of his lawsuit against the journalist, Abba Dala claimed that the suit was prompted by Muktar’s insults and false accusations. He alleged that Muktar used social media to accuse him of adultery, abandoning his mother to hawk on the streets, and lacking literacy. Dala also accused Muktar of falsely claiming that he was involved in a scandal and mocking his religious knowledge.

“I did not sue him on behalf of the government, as I am not a government official. I took him to court because he used his platform to make derogatory statements about me,” Dala explained. “Muktar accused me of various offenses and even edited a picture of me alongside his own, using audio to falsely claim I insulted Vice President Kashim Shettima. I have video evidence of these allegations.”

Dala clarified that he did not initially involve the police but took the matter directly to the Magistrate Court. The court subsequently directed the Zone One Police Command to investigate, leading to Muktar’s arrest despite his attempts to flee. Dala noted that Muktar’s legal representation, provided by Jafar Sani Bello, included demands for bail, with Bello also alleged to be funding Muktar’s actions.
