In a recent appearance on Arise TV, journalist Rufai Oseni highlighted the severe financial challenges facing Lagos residents. According to Oseni, with the current state of Nigeria’s economy, maintaining a family on salaries of N400k, N500k, or even N600k is increasingly untenable.

Oseni expressed his frustration with the fluctuating fuel prices and discrepancies between official reports. “What is going on with these prices? Dangote reports one figure, while NNPC provides another. This discrepancy is troubling. With the new NNPC pricing template, petrol prices have surged by over N100 in just one day. Who will bear this cost? The suffering Nigerians,” he said.

He continued, “The minimum wage of N70,000 is no longer sufficient. After doing the math, I can confirm that earning N400,000 is not enough to support a family. Earning N500,000 barely makes a difference, and N600,000 is hardly enough to manage family expenses in Lagos.”
