Why Should I Care?” — Dino Melaye FIRES BACK At Critics Over ₦500 Data Comment

Melaye, speaking during an interview with KAA Truths published on Thursday, said he is more concerned about how God views him than about the opinions of people on social media.

The former lawmaker maintained that criticism of his lavish lifestyle does not bother him or have any impact on his finances or way of life.

He said, “I don’t actually care what people say about me, and I don’t give it any significance. I’m only worried about what God thinks about me. And once I’ve sorted that out, what man thinks is not important. I’ve never given it a thought, and I will not.”

Melaye added that negative comments would not stop him from sharing aspects of his lifestyle online.

He said, “I don’t care whether anybody likes it or not. It doesn’t bother me. I don’t read comments, so I don’t feel perturbed, I don’t get disturbed. That won’t stop me from posting the next picture.”

Addressing those who criticise his posts, Melaye said he saw no reason to be concerned about opinions that have no effect on his personal life.

He stated, “When somebody sitting in a low environment, possibly operating on N500 of data, decides to write anything on social media. Why should that be of concern to me, when it won’t affect my next meal, won’t affect my next trip, won’t even affect my bank balance?”

He said he instead chooses to appreciate things he admires and pray that he would eventually be able to acquire them.

Melaye also defended his decision to showcase his properties and other possessions online, describing the posts as an expression of gratitude to God rather than an attempt to impress people.

He said, “What you see me do is a declaration of assets. What you see me do is appreciating my God.”

According to the ADC chieftain, whenever he shares images of his homes or properties, he makes a point of acknowledging that his achievements are the result of divine favour rather than solely his own efforts.

He added, “By the time you see me post anything about my house or my properties, I always follow it with a line acknowledging that this is not by my effort, not by my strength, it is only by the grace of the Almighty God, an unmerited favour given my background.”
