Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has declared that she has no interest in befriending Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT. This statement was made in response to Wike’s claim that she is trying to force a friendship with him.
The ongoing rift between Wike and the senator has recently been a topic in the news. During an interview with Reuben Abati on Arise TV on Monday, Kingibe clarified that she has never met Wike and has no intention of becoming friends with him. She mentioned that their only interaction has been in the context of the senate committee.
“Please, what constitutes friendship between two people who have never met each other? I have never sat in the same room with the minister except in the senate committee. So how does friendship arise? Why would I want to be friends with somebody I do not know?” Kingibe questioned.
She also pointed out the communication gap, stating, “The truth of the matter is that the minister refuses to speak or communicate in any way with the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory. So, how are the wishes and needs of the people to be communicated to him? Please tell me if you know a way.”
