The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has unveiled plans for the establishment of an FCT Rapid Response Team, with the primary goal of addressing security concerns in Abuja.
In a recent meeting with Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Wike outlined intentions to form a collaborative force involving the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Civil Defence.
The core objective behind this initiative is to bolster Abuja’s ability to effectively combat crime, as emphasized by Wike. He stressed the importance of equipping the rapid response team with cutting-edge technology to enhance their crime-fighting capabilities within the nation’s capital.
Wike envisions a comprehensive FCT Rapid Response Team, ensuring that every necessary technological resource is provided for optimal performance.
In response, General Musa expressed the military’s full support for the initiative, emphasizing their commitment to providing a standby force to supplement existing security forces during overwhelming situations.
General Musa also detailed plans to establish a rapid response team equipped with ground troops and air support, including helicopters, ensuring constant readiness.
These proposed measures signify a collaborative effort between the FCT Administration and various security agencies to elevate security operations and ensure the safety of residents and visitors in Abuja.
