Wike Approves Massive Promotion Of 3,592 FCT Civil Servants In Major Workforce Shake-Up

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Announcing the development, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the exercise forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and reflects the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ezeh explained that senior officers sat for their promotion examinations between July 1 and July 3, while examinations for junior staff were held on July 10.

He commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to carry out the promotion exercise successfully and efficiently.

According to him, the minister has also directed the commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that eligible officers receive their promotions as and when due.

“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory, and the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President,” Ezeh said.

He noted that the directive underscores the administration’s resolve to match ongoing infrastructure development across the FCT with improved staff welfare and career advancement opportunities.

Ezeh added that the initiative is intended to ensure civil servants benefit directly from the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration as it marks its third year in office.

He also praised FCT workers for their peaceful and orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.

The commission chairman further acknowledged the support of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), describing its cooperation as instrumental to the successful conduct of the exercise.

He advised officers preparing for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin their preparations early, stressing that promotion within the FCT Civil Service remains merit-based, highly competitive, and subject to the availability of vacancies.
