Wike Breaks Silence: ‘Whatever Anybody Says Is Not My Business’ On Fubara Deal
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he will not divulge the terms of the recent peace agreement reached between him and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during a media chat at his residence in Abuja on Thursday, Wike stressed that the key outcome is the restoration of peace to the oil-rich state, not the specifics of the deal.
“I’ll let people speculate; it’s not my concern. What matters is that peace has been restored,” Wike said. “If that doesn’t satisfy some people, there’s nothing more we can do. What anyone says is of no concern to me.”
Wike also accused certain individuals of profiting from the political crisis in Rivers, exploiting the turmoil for personal gain.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier stepped in to resolve the escalating conflict by convening a reconciliation meeting involving Wike, Fubara, and the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The president’s intervention came amid months of intense political infighting that nearly paralyzed governance in the state.
In March 2025, Tinubu controversially suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and several lawmakers amid a tense standoff that shook the state’s political stability.
The power struggle between Wike and Fubara centered on control of Rivers State’s political structure. Tensions reached a boiling point when pro-Wike lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, launched impeachment proceedings against the governor.
In a decisive move, Tinubu appointed retired naval officer Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as interim administrator of the state pending the resolution of the crisis.
