Wike-Fubara Tensions Escalate As PDP Upholds Ewor’s Chairmanship

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor as the Chairman of its Rivers State Chapter, in line with the judgment of the Rivers State High Court and the provisions of the PDP Constitution (amended in 2017).

Ewor’s leadership followed the nullification of Aaron Chukwuemeka’s tenure and executive committee by the Rivers State High Court.

In a statement on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, emphasized the party’s commitment to upholding the court’s decision to avoid situations like the loss of seats in Plateau State during the 2023 general elections, which stemmed from non-compliance with a previous court ruling.

The party acknowledged the Rivers State High Court’s ruling in Suit No. PHC/2301/CS/2024, which invalidated the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses held on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024. As the judgment has not been appealed or overturned, the PDP stated that it has no option but to adhere to it.

The PDP commended party leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters in Rivers State for supporting the Ewor-led Executive and ensuring the party’s stability and success in the state.

The national leadership also urged the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to work harmoniously with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the recognized leader of the PDP in Rivers State, as he continues delivering good governance in line with the party’s manifesto.

Ewor, a loyal supporter of Governor Fubara, dismissed claims that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, still holds influence within the state PDP.

“Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the leader of the PDP in Rivers State. Any suggestions to the contrary should be disregarded,” Ewor asserted.
