Wike announced this during his inspection visits to both religious sites in Abuja on Thursday.

He mentioned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had instructed him to ensure the proper upkeep of these structures, emphasizing their status as national monuments and sources of national pride.

This directive aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his commitment to promoting inclusivity in the country’s governance.

Wike underscored that President Tinubu is impartial when it comes to religions, valuing unity and recognizing that all religions are an integral part of Nigeria.

He highlighted the President’s proactive approach, which goes beyond words, and explained that he was given the approval to oversee and address the required maintenance work.

The minister disclosed that he held discussions with the Management Board of the National Mosque and the Christian Association of Nigeria leadership, where they requested maintenance work for both places of worship.

He expressed his satisfaction with what he observed during his visit and confirmed that he has given approval for the funds to be released to complete the additional maintenance work.

Regarding the request for awarding a contract for phase two of the Christian Centre, the minister stated that he would evaluate the cost implications to determine if it falls within the approval limits of the FCT Administration or if it should be referred to the Federal Executive Council for approval.

He remarked, “If the cost is within our means, we will proceed, but if it exceeds our threshold, we will seek approval from the President.”

The minister’s inspection was carried out in the company of the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Shehu Hadi Ahmad, the Director of Engineering, Mr. Ferdinand Ezeoha, and other senior officials of the FCT Administration.
