Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service in Abalama town, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday, Wike, the immediate past governor of the state, also addressed key political issues and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding constitutional processes.

He made it clear that he would not interfere with the Rivers State House of Assembly as they execute their constitutional responsibilities.

“I will not stop the Assembly from performing their constitutional duties,” he stated, emphasizing his respect for democratic institutions.

Wike also criticized the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, and other politicians, accusing them of misleading Governor Siminalayi Fubara for personal gain.

He alleged that Danagogo and his elder brother, Justice Danagogo, conspired to obtain an ex parte order, which enabled the governor to present the state budget before only four lawmakers.

“They will lead you to hellfire,” Wike warned, expressing his frustration over what he termed as unethical political maneuvers.

Furthermore, he condemned attempts to stoke ethnic tensions, particularly following recent legal defeats suffered by Governor Fubara. He reminded the audience of his past political victories and vowed to continue prevailing over those who oppose him.

“Our efforts, our sweat—we cannot be pushed out. You all struggled, and now someone who was handed power overnight thinks he can tell us to leave. Who gave him that right? Will you accept being told to ‘get out’?” Wike asked, sparking strong reactions from the crowd.

Reaffirming his political strength, Wike declared, “I have defeated them before, and I will continue to defeat them,” drawing applause from supporters.

The event, attended by community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents, underscored the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
