Wike visited the area and expressed his concerns about its unsightly appearance, characterizing it as a potential refuge for criminals.
Furthermore, he pledged that his administration would take all necessary measures to reduce crime levels within the territory.
He emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “We will not permit these individuals to persist because this area is an eyesore. You must clear it without delay; there will be no prior notice. Evict them and clean up the entire area.”
Additionally, TPL Mukhtar Galadima, the coordinator of the FCT city management joint task team, highlighted that the encroached area was originally designated for a dual transportation system encompassing both bus and tram lines, serving various districts within the city.
He expressed dismay at the fact that a significant portion of the road network had become a haven for scavengers between the Mabushi and Katampe districts of the FCT.
