This announcement was made by Adamu Gwary, Director of the Security Services Department at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, following the first FCT Executive Committee meeting of 2025.
Gwary emphasized that this move aims to bolster the FCT’s security framework. He recalled that in September 2024, Minister Wike stressed the necessity of improving security access, particularly in satellite towns and rural communities.
The minister also directed the construction of two police divisional headquarters in each of the six area councils. Gwary noted that nine divisional headquarters had previously been approved and are nearing completion.
“With the approval of these additional three, we now have two divisional headquarters in each of the six area councils,” Gwary explained. “This initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that FCT residents benefit from effective and adequate security.”
He added that this development fulfills Wike’s commitment to improving security in the city, satellite towns, and area councils, following his visits to all six councils in 2024.
Gwary highlighted the ongoing support for security agencies and praised the progress made under the Wike-led FCTA in curbing crime across the territory. He pointed out a noticeable decline in insecurity indicators and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to further reducing criminal activities.
He urged security agencies to intensify their efforts to ensure that the minister’s investments yield the desired security outcomes.
