Olayinka made these remarks in response to a statement from the Atiku Media Office, which claimed that character was the reason behind rejecting the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) committee on the selection of a Vice Presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

Wike’s aide asserted that Atiku is not a man of character or integrity, citing Obasanjo’s autobiography, My Watch, where the former president labeled Atiku as a “blatant and shameless liar” and questioned his moral standing.

According to Olayinka, one reason Wike initially declined Atiku’s offer to be his running mate was due to Atiku’s questionable character and integrity. He further accused Atiku of dishonesty for rejecting the committee’s recommendation after previously committing to abide by it.

Olayinka remarked that Atiku should learn to be more truthful and reliable, especially in his old age, rather than being consumed by his ambition to become president. He added that, unlike Atiku, Wike remains consistent and transparent in his stance on issues and does not waver or delete statements on major topics.
