Dagogo-Jack, speaking on Arise Television, suggested that former FCT Minister Nyesom Wike would not have coped if confronted with a similar situation, especially facing what he described as “27 snakes” in the state assembly.
According to him, the ongoing political tension has impacted residents of the oil-rich state, but it is not a reflection on Fubara personally. He noted that any other governor from the same region could have faced similar challenges.
“There was a clear agenda that ran into a glitch. Since then, rather than pulling back or allowing the governor to complete his tenure, some actors have doubled down,” Dagogo-Jack said.
He commended Fubara for his composure and strategic approach, emphasizing that his calm, disciplined, and humble nature has prevented opponents from succeeding.
“We have 27 Assembly members who have chosen personal loyalty over the state. They have essentially become snakes in the House. How many people can function with 27 snakes in their midst? Even former Governor Wike, under similar circumstances, would not have been able to construct all those flyover bridges or maintain peace of mind,” he added.
Dagogo-Jack argued that the lawmakers’ actions make it extremely difficult for the governor to perform his duties effectively, describing Fubara as working tirelessly while under constant pressure.
“He’s fighting, he’s working, he’s under strain. Yet, he continues to lead and deliver for the state,” he said.
