Wike’s Spokesperson Responds To Claims Of Matawalle Assisting Bello’s Flight To NigerLere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, fled to the Niger Republic.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olayinka’s reaction follows a report by US-based journalist Jackson Ude, who accused the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of helping Bello escape to the neighbouring country. The former Kogi governor has been facing allegations of financial misconduct during his time in office, with ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement posted on X, Olayinka refuted Ude’s allegations, calling them false. He pointed out that Bello was present at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on September 18, 2024, contradicting the claim that he had fled Nigeria. Olayinka asked how Ude could claim that Matawalle facilitated Bello’s escape with military personnel and vehicles to Niger Republic, yet the same individual was publicly seen at the EFCC office just days earlier.

Olayinka’s statement effectively challenged the credibility of the report, demanding an explanation from Ude for the inconsistency in his claims.
