Attack By Boko Haram Results In 5 Nigerian Soldiers Killed, Several WoundedThe Defence Headquarters (DHQ) confirmed on Tuesday that five Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided the update, revealing that the terrorists destroyed military equipment during the assault, including one gun truck, three TCVs, and an excavator. Despite the surprise attack, the soldiers were able to eliminate several of the terrorists and recover weapons, with reinforcements sent to track the terrorists’ retreat.

The incident took place in the Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. “The coordinated attack resulted in five soldiers killed in action, 10 wounded, and four missing, while our troops successfully neutralized several terrorists and seized their weapons,” Buba stated.

The DHQ added that a reinforcement team, including air support, was deployed to investigate the area and pursue the terrorists along their escape route. The military emphasized its commitment to ending terrorism and other security challenges in Nigeria, asserting that such attacks would not deter their resolve.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum also condemned the attack, expressing strong support for the military in the fight against terrorism and reaffirming the loyalty of both the state and its people in supporting the ongoing operations against insurgents.
