Woman Risks 50 Years In Prison For Death Of Her 5-Year-Old Son From Abuse And NeglectDanielle Dauphinais, 38, is set for sentencing on Friday following the 2021 death of her 5-year-old son, Elijah Lewis, whose remains were found buried in a Massachusetts park.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Elijah weighed only 19 pounds at the time of his death and exhibited signs of severe neglect, abuse, and drug exposure. Last month, Dauphinais pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and related charges as part of a deal with prosecutors, avoiding trial.

Her boyfriend, Joseph Stapf, previously received a sentence of 22 to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter and second-degree assault charges.

An autopsy revealed that Elijah suffered from facial and scalp injuries, acute fentanyl intoxication, malnourishment, and pressure ulcers. Disturbing text messages exchanged between Stapf and Dauphinais showed their anger towards Elijah, with one message from Dauphinais stating, “He said he wants food and he wants me to stop starving him because it’s not nice.” Another text ominously read, “I’m gonna kill him and I mean it.”

Elijah’s father, Timothy Lewis, had moved him to live with Dauphinais and Stapf in New Hampshire in 2020. By fall, he grew increasingly worried about Elijah’s well-being and contacted child services. In a wrongful death lawsuit filed in May, Lewis noted that Elijah’s developmental issues and behavioral problems worsened under Dauphinais’ care.

A medical visit in November 2020 revealed that Elijah weighed just 32 pounds and had visible bruises. Dauphinais later falsely claimed that Elijah had been sent to California. By October 2021, she had given birth to another child who was found to have been exposed to drugs, prompting further child services investigations.

After Elijah’s disappearance, Dauphinais claimed he was with family members, but they later revealed she had asked them to lie about his whereabouts. Prosecutors believe Elijah died in September 2021, after which Dauphinais and Stapf buried his body in the park. They were arrested in New York, and shortly thereafter, Elijah’s remains were discovered.
