Yahaya Bello’s N110bn Fraud Arraignment Rescheduled, New Court Date AnnouncedJustice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, adjourned the arraignment of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to November 27, 2024. Bello is facing 16 new charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), related to a criminal breach of trust and conspiracy in an alleged N110.4 billion fraud.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

At the resumed hearing, EFCC counsel Jamiu Agoro requested an adjournment to ensure Bello’s presence in court, noting that the 30-day window for the summons issued on October 3 had not yet expired. The court had previously issued a public summons for Bello, after the EFCC stated it had been unable to serve him with the charges filed on September 24. Justice Anenih had ruled that the summons be published in a widely circulated newspaper and posted at Bello’s last known address, as well as in visible locations at the court.

Agoro further requested that the court allow the summons to be posted at Bello’s residence, located at No 9, Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, and extend the time for Bello to appear in court. Both co-defendants, Shuabu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, were granted administrative bail by the EFCC. Their respective counsel confirmed the bail arrangements and had no objections to the adjournment request.

After considering the submissions from all parties, Justice Anenih granted the EFCC’s request for an adjournment and authorized the hearing notice to be pasted at Bello’s residence. The case was rescheduled for arraignment on November 27, 2024.
