A man has shared the troubling account of a self-confessed internet fraudster, popularly known as a Yahoo boy, who was allegedly poisoned after financially supporting his girlfriend and her sister.

According to the account, the man initially gave his girlfriend’s sister ₦50,000 after she requested financial assistance and promised to repay the money the following week. Although she reportedly failed to repay the amount, he did not raise an issue over it.

The situation reportedly changed about two weeks later when the woman began living with the man and his girlfriend. According to the account, he subsequently provided her with a weekly allowance of ₦20,000, while his girlfriend reportedly received ₦50,000 every week.

The man’s friends were said to have questioned his decision to continue providing financial support to both women. However, he reportedly defended his actions, suggesting that he would not want his girlfriend’s family to suffer when it was their turn to receive assistance.

The account claimed that the situation later took a disturbing turn when the man suddenly fell ill and was rushed to a hospital. It was reportedly during his treatment that he was informed that he had been poisoned.

The man was subsequently asked to provide the address of his girlfriend’s family. According to the account, he explained that he had met his girlfriend at a club and that she had been living with him since their relationship began.

It was further alleged that the man had secretly saved almost ₦7 million in his girlfriend’s bank account while giving his family members and friends the impression that he had little or no money.

The story has generated discussion online, particularly around financial trust, generosity and boundaries in romantic relationships. Some social media users have questioned the wisdom of providing substantial financial support to a partner’s family without clear boundaries.

However, details surrounding the alleged poisoning, the identities of the people involved and whether any arrests or legal proceedings followed have not been independently verified from the account provided.
