Yilwatda Leaves Nigeria! APC Chairman Begins Vacation Ahead of Crucial 2027 Polls

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside Nigeria.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the development was disclosed in a statement by Yilwatda’s Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, who described the break as well deserved after the party chairman’s demanding first year in office.

Tooki explained that the vacation would provide Yilwatda with an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate and reflect on the next phase of the APC’s development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Since assuming the leadership of the ruling party, Yilwatda has focused on strengthening the APC’s internal structures and improving cohesion among party stakeholders.

The vacation is also expected to give the APC chairman time to fine-tune arrangements for an upcoming National Working Committee retreat, where the party’s progress and strategies for the 2027 elections are expected to be reviewed.

The APC leadership has maintained that Yilwatda’s temporary absence will not affect the day-to-day running of the party.

Members of the National Working Committee will continue to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the party’s constitution until the chairman returns.

Yilwatda is expected to resume his official duties at the end of the two-week vacation as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The APC chairman was re-elected to the position at the party’s national convention in March 2026, with the party’s leadership subsequently continuing its preparations for the next electoral cycle.
