You Can’t Take Amaechi Seriously – APC’s Joe Igbokwe Fires Scathing Attack

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has launched a scathing attack on former Rivers State governor and ex-minister, Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as someone with serious character flaws.

Igbokwe’s remarks came in response to Amaechi’s recent statement lamenting widespread hunger in the country and asserting that the opposition coalition has the strength to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during his 60th birthday celebration in Abuja, Amaechi stated, “Many Nigerians are hungry,” and called for a united opposition to challenge the current administration.

Reacting via a Facebook post, Igbokwe dismissed Amaechi’s comments, describing him as erratic and unfit to be taken seriously.

“If you’ve ever had personal dealings with former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, as I did during President Buhari’s 2015 campaign rally at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, you wouldn’t take him seriously,” Igbokwe wrote. “He has serious character issues.”

Igbokwe also recounted another incident shared by Alhaji Kabiru Abdullahi, a former Lagos Commissioner for Waterfronts, during a campaign event at Agege Stadium.

He claimed Amaechi arrived at the venue, demanded the Arewa community leaders who organized the rally vacate the stage, and got into a heated exchange when they refused. “Amaechi has a very bad temperament,” Igbokwe insisted, adding, “He’s not someone you can rely on.”

The public outburst highlights deepening divisions within the ruling APC, especially among key figures with past political alliances.
