You Don’t Know Me — Moyo Lawal Reacts After Being Sl^t-Shamed Online

Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has responded after a man on X criticised and publicly shamed her following the actress’s recent social media post.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Lawal had shared new photographs of herself on X and asked her followers whether they had missed her. A man subsequently quote-posted the pictures and directed a series of derogatory remarks at the actress, making references to her past controversy involving a leaked intimate video and questioning her continued presence in the entertainment industry.

Lawal responded by questioning the motivation behind the man’s comments and suggesting that her appearance and personal decisions may have prompted his remarks.

She also rejected the suggestion that her career was built through relationships with men, explaining that she began her career in television and secured subsequent acting opportunities through auditions and professional engagements.

The actress further disputed the assumption that an unmarried woman who looks attractive must be sexually promiscuous, arguing that her private life should not be used as a basis for making such claims about her character.

Lawal also addressed comments about her past relationship, alleging that a former partner struggled with their separation and attempted to damage her reputation afterward.

In another response, she criticised what she described as the tendency of some men to make derogatory comments about women online. She argued that people who make such accusations may not necessarily have more restrained personal lives than the women they criticise.

The actress ended her response by dismissing the comments and urging the man to stop directing what she described as unwarranted insults at her.

Lawal has reportedly maintained a lower profile on social media since an intimate video involving her was circulated online, an incident she has previously been linked to in media reports.
