Jandor, who recently resigned from the PDP, accused George of openly supporting a candidate from another party and advising Lagosians not to vote for the PDP. In response, George stated that a simple show of support from him could politically diminish Jandor and his alleged popularity in Lagos.
Speaking on Eaglean 102.5 FM’s Current Affairs Programme, Frontline, George criticized Jandor as “insolent” and accused him of never having worked in the party’s best interest. He said, “I’m in my 80s, he’s just a child, a little rat. What does he know about this party? To me, it’s an insult, pure insolence. My children are older than him, and as I learned in Latin class, it’s ‘infradig’—beneath my dignity to respond to such nonsense.”
George continued, pointing out that despite Jandor’s lack of understanding of how the party operated, he was given the chance to be its candidate. He added that this led to a more credible candidate like Gbadebo Vivour-Rhodes of the Labour Party stepping down and defecting to the opposition.
George recalled how Jandor competed against an experienced, well-educated individual from a respected family background, who had previously contested the Lagos West Senatorial District, which includes 10 local governments. He said, “This candidate is outstanding, with an excellent family background, and we even asked them to step down for one another. But after that, Jandor had the audacity to say that someone advised him to pick a woman from Ikorodu (Actress, Funke Akindele) if he won.”
George also mentioned how, during the primaries, he convinced Gbadebo Vivour-Rhodes’ father, Wale Rhodes-Vivour, to support Jandor’s candidacy, preventing a potential loss for Jandor to a more qualified opponent.
