Young Man, 20, Arrested In Connection With Hunter’s Death In OgunThe Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Faisal Audu, in connection with the alleged murder of a hunter named Saheed Awolesi in the Sagamu area.

Officers from the Sagamu Police Division arrested Audu on Sunday, October 6, 2024. According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Awolesi had gone night hunting around 9:00 p.m. on October 5, 2024, but failed to return home, prompting his family and the local hunters’ association to initiate a search for him.

“Our detectives managed to contact the hunter’s mobile phone, which was answered at the Ibafo Police Station. The suspect had already been arrested by officers from that division and was found with the hunter’s phone and motorcycle,” Odutola stated.

Audu was also found in possession of a jackknife, a cutlass, and other items suspected to be stolen. He was subsequently transferred to the Igbeba Police Division for further investigation.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to killing Awolesi and stealing his motorcycle and phone. He then led officers to the crime scene, where they discovered the victim’s body, which showed signs of violent injuries.

The spokesperson confirmed that the body has been recovered and sent to a mortuary in Sagamu for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
