A 24-year-old woman, identified as Sheba Simon, was stabbed by an unknown assailant suspected to be a phone thief in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
The incident occurred near Damaturu City College in Malali Bypass around 9:30 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024.Sheba, a salesgirl, was returning home from work when the attacker stabbed her with a knife and fled with her cell phone, leaving her injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that she was chatting on her phone after getting off a commercial tricycle when the assailant ambushed her.Fortunately, nearby shop owners heard her screams and rushed to her aid. They quickly transported her to the Specialist Hospital Damaturu, where she is currently undergoing treatment.The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in a statement, assuring that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.The police urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
