Your Daughter Did Not Win, But…– Nkechi Blessing Speaks To Late Mum After Defeat

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has paid an emotional tribute to her late mother following her defeat to reality TV star Phyna in a celebrity boxing bout.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actress reflected on her first experience inside a boxing ring in a social media post, where she shared a photograph of herself with her late mother and described the event as a deeply personal experience.

Although Nkechi Blessing was defeated by Phyna, she said she was proud of herself for having the courage to step into the ring despite never having fought anyone before.

The actress revealed that she trained for only two days before taking on Phyna, describing the unfamiliar experience of boxing in front of a large audience as one that required considerable courage.

Nkechi Blessing, who dedicated her performance to her late mother, said she wished her mother could have been physically present to watch her compete.

“Mummy, your daughter did not win, but her fight won’t leave the mouth of millions in a hurry,” she wrote, reflecting on her performance.

She also expressed gratitude to her late mother for raising her to be strong and resilient, while recalling how she requested her mother’s favourite song to be played before the bout because she wanted to feel her presence.

“Mama, thank you for raising a strong woman, a fighter and an unstoppable child of grace,” the actress wrote.

Nkechi Blessing said the experience was memorable despite having had only two days of training and revealed that she would be willing to participate in another boxing contest in the future.

She also wondered whether her late mother had watched her performance and expressed hope that she would have been proud of her.

The actress further revealed that a woman identified as Jennifer became emotional before she entered the ring, adding that she believed her late mother would also have been proud of her courage.

“Keep resting in peace, mummy. I love you forever,” Nkechi Blessing added in her tribute.

The actress also thanked Balmoral Group Promotions and Bet9ja for giving her the opportunity to participate in the celebrity boxing event, describing the experience as one she would not forget easily.

Nkechi Blessing’s bout against Phyna attracted considerable attention as the two entertainers faced off in the ring, with Phyna eventually securing the victory. Despite the outcome, Nkechi Blessing described the experience as a significant personal achievement and an opportunity to challenge herself outside her acting career.
