Your Husband’s Past Is No Secret” – Akpabio’s Wife Hits Back At Senator Natasha In Viral Video

Unoma Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has refuted the sexual harassment allegations made against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Earlier, Senator Natasha claimed that Akpabio made inappropriate advances toward her and blocked her motion in the Senate after she rejected him. She made this revelation during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Reacting to the allegations while addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, Unoma Akpabio accused Natasha of maligning her husband and “creating content for personal gain.” She dismissed the claims as baseless and demeaning, emphasizing that Akpabio and Natasha’s husband are longtime friends.

She further described the Senate President as a disciplined and jovial individual, whose words and actions are often misinterpreted.

Meanwhile, Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has countered Natasha Akpoti’s claims regarding the recent seating reassignment controversy in the Senate. Natasha had sparked tension in the Red Chamber when she refused to move to the seat reallocated to her by Senate President Akpabio.

During a plenary session, Natasha raised her hand to speak but was denied recognition for not addressing the chamber from her assigned seat. Frustrated, she raised her voice in protest, accusing Akpabio of stripping her of her privileges. Consequently, the Senate unanimously voted to refer her to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for disciplinary action.

Appearing on Arise TV on Friday, February 28, 2025, Natasha alleged that the seating arrangement change was a deliberate attempt to frustrate her legislative activities and reiterated her claims of sexual harassment against Akpabio.

However, in response, Senator Kingibe stated that Natasha does not adhere to Senate rules, noting that the other three female senators have remained silent on the matter because they do not want to criticize her publicly.

Kingibe, who chairs the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, acknowledged that the Senate has not always been gender-friendly but noted that improvements have been made. She stressed that women must follow the rules of the institution they choose to be part of.

She stated, “Silence is golden, especially when one of us is not following the rules. As women, we did not want to publicly say anything negative about her, hoping this issue would blow over, as many others do.”
