The coalition believes that such a decision would serve as a vital step towards rectifying years of marginalization and inequity endured by the original inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory.
Marafa accentuated that it is imperative to accord the authentic landowners and indigenous people of FCT, Abuja, their due positions within the socio-political framework to avert the looming threat of youth discontent, agitation, potential confrontations, and even militancy within the city.
Highlighting the historical context, she emphasized that successive administrations have consistently relegated the aboriginal population of FCT to the outskirts, denying them equitable political appointments, fair resource allocation, adequate provision of essential amenities, and infrastructural development in rural communities.
Marafa asserted, “Our group is resolutely advocating for the restoration of the rightful destiny of the original proprietors of FCT, Abuja.
We have suffered from deception, marginalization, and being pushed into obscurity for an extended period. Our objective is not to resort to violence, confrontation, or militancy to assert our demands.”
She further affirmed the group’s unwavering endorsement of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which demonstrates his determination to rectify the deficiencies of preceding administrations.
The youth coalition expressed sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for nominating Mr. Jissalo, a former chairman of the Abuja Municipal Council who has demonstrated a commendable track record of performance and infrastructural enhancement within the council’s jurisdiction.
