The 40-year-old, a father of two, had been grappling with mental health issues prior to the tragic incident that has plunged the community into mourning.
Sources within the community’s youth body revealed that the deceased allegedly took his own life despite numerous warnings and attempts by concerned individuals to prevent the tragedy. Ebezpeke had been vocal about feeling threatened by unseen forces that purportedly aimed to end his life.
Witnesses reported that in January, the late Youth President had previously fled his home and sought refuge in the same bush, only to return later. According to one source, “Raphael usually talks about unseen forces trailing his life and trying to kill him. There was a time in January when he also ran out of the house into the same bush, but later he came back to the house.”
A youth leader from Gbarain community confirmed the death and acknowledged Ebezpeke’s mental health struggles. The leader had personally counseled him and encouraged a healthier lifestyle, cautioning him against associating with individuals involved in substance abuse.
Despite Ebezpeke’s claims of being pursued by malevolent forces, there is currently no suspicion of foul play or murder. The prevailing belief is that he may have taken his own life, leaving the community in sorrow over the unfortunate turn of events.
