YouTuber-turned-Boxer Jake Paul Sets Sights On Anthony Joshua Fight

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Jake Paul’s promotional partner, Nakisa Bidarian, shared insight into this exciting possibility. “Jake told me, ‘I want to do that fight. Not now, but I want to do that.’ He’s aiming to become a world champion at cruiserweight,” Bidarian revealed.

Paul, who has already challenged traditional boxing norms, sees a potential matchup with Joshua—or other heavyweight contenders like Daniel Dubois—as a way to push the sport’s boundaries. According to Bidarian, these aspirations are driven not by money—Paul has been a millionaire since the age of 18—but by the desire to explore his limits and create unforgettable moments for fans.

“Jake weighed in at 227lbs for the Tyson fight but typically walks around at 215lbs,” Bidarian explained. “In the right environment, he’s excited to surpass expectations. It’s about creating experiences that make people say, ‘Wow, that really happened.'”

Paul’s ambitions come amid growing uncertainty over Joshua’s boxing career. Former unified light-welterweight world champion Amir Khan recently advised Joshua to prioritize a much-anticipated bout with Tyson Fury before considering retirement. “Joshua should wait for the big fight against Tyson Fury,” Khan suggested. “AJ has achieved a lot in boxing, but finishing his career with a fight against Fury could be a great way to close it.”

Joshua, who has earned over $200 million during his career, is currently recovering from injuries sustained in his knockout loss to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in September. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Joshua is unlikely to return to the ring before May 2024.
