Chaired by Deputy Speaker Hon. Adamu Aliyu Gummi, the session focused on the establishment and administration of the Zamfara State Media Corporation and the creation of the Zamfara State Geographic Information Service. According to a statement by State House of Assembly spokesman Comrade Bello Madaro Kurya, distributed to reporters in Gusau, the deliberations garnered extensive input from various members, resulting in both bills receiving initial and secondary readings.

Prominent contributors included Hon. Garba Ibrahim Liman (Gusau 2), Hon. Yakubu Almajir Bela (Bungudu East), Hon. Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo (Anka), Hon. Kabiru Mikailu Dangilbi (Maru South), and Hon. Nura Dahiru Sabon Birnin (Birnin Magaji).

“The proposed Zamfara State Media Corporation aims to enhance service delivery, build staff capacity, and improve the management of state-owned media,” the statement noted. “Recognizing its significance, the House directed the Information Committee and the Justice and Judiciary Committee to conduct further reviews and report within two weeks.”

“Likewise, discussions on the Zamfara State Geographic Information Service underscored its potential to resolve land disputes, prevent encroachment, and address illegal rent issues. The House instructed the Land and Housing Committee, along with the Justice and Judiciary Committee, to investigate and report back within the same timeframe.”

“Earlier, House Leader Hon. Muhammad Bello Mazawaje sought approval to present the bills separately as submitted by the executive branch, a request unanimously granted by the House, facilitating both bills’ progression through initial and secondary readings.”
