The Zamfara State Government has undertaken a verification process for 3,079 retirees to address the backlog of gratuities accumulated under past administrations. Sulaiman Bala Idris, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, revealed that a total of 1,746 pensioners from both state and local governments have already received two installments of payments totaling N2,312,841,065.08.
Progress has been notable in the verification of pensioners from both state and local government levels. The second installment of gratuity payments for verified pensioners commenced on Friday, March 1, 2024. From the state, 413 verified pensioners have received approximately NGN 682,228,647.38, while payments to 403 verified pensioners from local governments amount to N449,667,142.08.
Out of the 3,079 verified pensioners, 1,746 have already received gratuity payments from both state and local governments in two installments, totaling N2,312,841,065.08. The verification process is ongoing, with payments being made to those cleared.
In a separate development, Anyim Vera, a member of Dunamis International Gospel Center (DIGC), known for a viral testimony that sparked controversy, has been arrested by the police.
