Hajiya Nafisa Muhammad, the Commissioner for Women, Children, and Social Development, represented the governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriya Dauda Lawal, in explaining that the objective of this free sickle cell disease screening initiative is to combat the prevalence of the disease within the state.
She emphasized that one of the primary challenges faced by sickle cell patients is the need for ongoing medication and highlighted the willingness of Governor Lawal’s administration to offer assistance in this regard.
The commissioner further emphasized that supporting individuals and families affected by this hereditary blood disorder requires a collective effort from everyone in the community.
In light of this, she made an appeal to non-governmental organizations and philanthropists in the state, urging them to complement the state government’s healthcare delivery efforts.
