The tribunal’s decision came after both the respondents and the counsel for the petitioner, Bello Matawalle, presented their written arguments, effectively closing their arguments.
Dauda Lawal, the first respondent, along with the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have presented their testimonies before the tribunal.
Lawal urged the tribunal to dismiss Matawalle’s petition on the grounds of lack of merit, drawing a parallel to the case of Oyetola versus Ademola.
Citing the exclusion of the result sheet representing 98,564 votes from the Maradun Local Government Area, and incomplete elections in certain council areas of the state, Barrister Usman Sule, the lead counsel for the petitioner, highlighted INEC’s actions. He noted that although the elections were not completed in certain areas, a winner was declared.
