According to Vanguard, Aminu Ibrahim, who represents the Kaura Namoda state constituency in the Zamfara House of Assembly, is accused of involvement in banditry and kidnapping. Ibrahim is alleged to have been part of the abduction of Ibrahim Fada, an elderly man from Kasuwar Daji village.
Police Commissioner Muhammad Dalijan confirmed the arrest of Ibrahim and added that Jafaru Kumburki, the District Head of Kaura Namoda, and Nasiru Muhammad, a former Chairman of Kaura Namoda LGA, are also in custody on similar charges.
The Commissioner noted that District Heads of Danjibga, Bukkuyum, and Unguwar Gyauro in Tsafe and Bukkuyum LGAs are under investigation for suspected links to kidnapping and banditry.
Dalijan revealed that the Kaura Namoda District Head, along with two suspected bandit associates, kidnapped nine individuals in Gidan Sambo village and received a ransom of N800,000. Additionally, the former council chairman is accused of collaborating with others to abduct Ango in Kumurya community.
An investigative panel, formed by the state government, will review the cases of the District Heads of Danjibga, Unguwar Gyauro, and Bukkuyum. The police have completed their investigation and submitted their findings to the governor for further action. The police will continue to identify, arrest, and prosecute individuals involved in banditry and related crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and those found implicated will be questioned.
