Rimingado highlighted that civil servants have frequently been implicated in corrupt activities revealed through the commission’s investigations. This underscores the necessity of the workshop, which aims to raise awareness among civil servants about the dangers of being exploited by politicians for corrupt purposes.

He pointed out that a substantial 90 percent of corrupt activities are linked to procurement processes, often facilitated by collusion between politicians and civil servants. Rimingado emphasized that the commission would impose penalties on any civil servant found involved in corruption.

“We aim to educate civil servants on avoiding exploitation by politicians and engaging in unlawful practices,” Rimingado stated. “Civil servants are often caught in the middle of corrupt schemes, and procurement services are a major avenue for such corruption. Our goal is to inform them about anti-corruption laws, public procurement, and financial management practices relevant to their roles.”

Rimingado also noted that local government staff are included in the training due to cases where politicians used local government accounts to divert funds. He warned of strict penalties for those involved in corruption, affirming the commission’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy.

Governor Abba Yusuf, represented by Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, criticized the previous administration for extensive financial mismanagement. He stressed that the current government will not tolerate corruption and called on civil service directors to uphold integrity and dedicate themselves to public service.

Head of Civil Service Abdullahi Musa reminded participants of their responsibility to manage public resources effectively. He urged them to set a positive example for their subordinates and collaborate to combat corruption.
