Political Tension Rises As Fayose Questions Supreme Court Delay In Party Disputes
The younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Isaac Fayose, has criticised the Supreme Court over its delay in delivering judgments on the leadership disputes affecting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The apex court had, on April 22, concluded hearings on the cases and reserved judgment after a five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba listened to arguments challenging earlier rulings from lower courts.
However, no date was fixed for the judgment, sparking growing concern among aspirants of both opposition parties, especially as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for submission of party membership registers draws closer.
Reacting on Wednesday via his Facebook page, Isaac Fayose questioned the timing of the delay, especially as members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including President Bola Tinubu, continue to obtain nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
He expressed concern that the situation could weaken opposition participation in the electoral process, warning against what he described as a lack of neutrality.
Fayose stated that Nigerians must not be left with only one dominant political option in the next election cycle.
He wrote, “If the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man, the ADC and PDP judgment would have been delivered.
“Can you see the game? The president and others are picking nomination forms in APC, but the two opposition parties are stuck at the Supreme Court.
“The court adjourned on April 22, yet no judgment has been delivered. Nigerians are worried about neutrality given the situation.
“With INEC deadlines approaching, why are the two major opposition parties still being delayed?
“Nigerians deserve alternatives. We cannot go into an election with only one dominant option.”
