2026 Promotion Exam: Federal Civil Service Releases Important Dates, Locations

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced the dates and designated examination centres for the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination for eligible civil servants across the country.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the local phase of the examination is scheduled to hold from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in selected centres across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory. The commission had earlier confirmed that the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination would be conducted as part of its promotion process for eligible officers.

The Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ibraheem Zakariyya, disclosed the schedule in a statement issued in Abuja, following a circular dated September 8, 2026, with reference number FC.6243/GOV/2026/VOL.III/22.

The examination centres have been distributed across the country to accommodate candidates from different regions. Lafia in Nasarawa State will serve as the centre for candidates in the North-Central zone, while Kaduna will host candidates from the North-West. Bauchi has been designated for the North-East, while Port Harcourt will serve candidates from the South-South.

Candidates from the South-West are expected to sit for the examination in Ibadan, Oyo State, while Enugu will serve as the designated centre for the South-East. Abuja will also serve as a centre for candidates from the Federal Capital Territory and for the headquarters of the commission.

The FCSC has advised all accredited candidates to carefully verify the information contained on their examination identity cards, particularly their assigned centres and examination dates, ahead of the exercise.

Candidates are expected to arrive at their designated centres by 7:00 a.m. on the day indicated on their examination cards. The commission warned that candidates must write the examination only at the centres assigned to them and should not attempt to appear at alternative venues.

The commission urged participants to make adequate preparations and confirm all relevant details before the examination dates. It also encouraged candidates to arrive early to avoid delays or circumstances that could prevent them from participating in the promotion exercise.

The announcement provides eligible civil servants with the necessary information to prepare for the local phase of the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination, which is expected to cover the applicable grade levels under the commission’s promotion process.
