2027: Rochas Okorocha Accuses Uzodinma Of Arrogance Before Tinubu

Published

Former Imo West Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has criticised Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, describing his conduct as arrogant after the governor publicly declared that he would appear on the ballot in the 2027 elections.

Okorocha made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he faulted Uzodinma for making the declaration in the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the former governor argued that Uzodinma should not have made such a statement while the dispute over the APC senatorial ticket in Imo West remains before the court.

Okorocha maintained that the governor had no authority to predict the outcome of a legal proceeding, insisting that the matter should be allowed to run its course through the judicial process.

He questioned Uzodinma’s confidence in declaring his intention to contest, arguing that such a statement could suggest that the governor had already assumed the outcome of the court case.

The controversy follows a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which declared Okorocha the APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial district ahead of the forthcoming election.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in his judgment, ordered Uzodinma to stop presenting himself as the winner of the party’s senatorial primary conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court held that the evidence presented before it showed that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the primary election.

The dispute has continued to generate political reactions within the APC in Imo State, particularly as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
